A Serene Oasis of Healing in the Heart of Downtown New York City
At Three Treasures Acupuncture in Manhattan, I have earned a reputation for treating women’s health, including pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunction, fertility and pregnancy, musculo-skeletal pain conditions, allergies and cosmetic acupuncture. Using the most current, evidence-based research available, I integrate Eastern and Western medical philosophy into my work. As a licensed acupuncturist and certified Kanpo practitioner, I offer a personalized approach through acupuncture, herbal medicine, and lifestyle recommendations. Millions of Americans suffer from pelvic pain and/or pelvic floor dysfunction. And, not only women suffer. Pelvic pain also affects men and children. The causes of this condition are complex. Many systems of the body are involved: musculoskeletal, uro-genital, digestive and psycho-emotional. Often the condition may be caused by infection, childbirth, menopause, trauma or surgery. As a holistic, health practitioner, I have joined forces with other specialists in NYC who are also on the forefront of their fields. Along with this consortium of healers, including gynecologists, physiatrists, physical therapists, naturopaths, psychotherapists, nutritionists, and mind-body practitioners, I offer compassionate and comprehensive care for pelvic pain.
These are some of the conditions where acupuncture can help with treatment:
Pelvic Pain: Pudendal neuralgia, vulvadynia, vulvar vestibulitis, PID, endometriosis, irregular and painful menses
Disorders of the Bladder: Interstitial cystitis (IC), Prostatitis/Prostatodynia, urinary frequency/retention
Disorders of the Bowel: IBS, Chronic gas and bloating, constipation, chronic diarrhea
Sexual pain and dysfunction

Fertility

Fertility
Of all the areas in my practice, fertility work is the most rewarding for both my patients and me. It’s gratifying to help a woman conceive and to bring new life into the world. However, it is difficult for many women to get pregnant, and this is where I can help.
Research shows that acupuncture is very effective, either in itself, or in conjunction with modern fertility treatments. There are many causes of infertility: amenorrhea, irregular menses, menorrhagia, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome and hormonal irregularities. I have successfully treated them all.
Acupuncture benefits fertility by naturally regulating the body’s systems, most notably the reproductive system. It helps increase blood flow to the reproductive organs and balance hormone levels. It improves ovarian function in women and sperm production in men.
I also supplement my practice with Chinese herbal medicine, which works synergistically with acupuncture to improve reproductive processes in both men and women. It has a long tradition and has been used effectively for thousands
of years.
Congratulations, You’re Pregnant!
All of the women I have helped to conceive have continued with acupuncture during their pregnancies. Not only does acupuncture minimize the risk of miscarriage, it keeps the pregnant mother healthy and nurtures the growing baby. Furthermore, acupuncture minimizes morning sickness, back pain and fatigue that can often be a part of a healthy pregnancy. After labor and delivery, acupuncture can remedy the post-partum bleeding, depression, low back pain and fatigue that often affect a new mother.
Pain Management

Pain Management
Acupuncture is highly effective for acute and chronic pain. I have successfully treated headaches and migraines, low back pain, sciatica, upper back pain, chronic neck pain, piriformis syndrome, elbow tendonitis, osteoarthritis, peripheral neuropathy, trigger finger, sports injuries and post-operative pain. Pain management is the primary reason most Americans first try acupuncture, as it has received the most media attention.
In addition to musculo-skeletal pain, acupuncture is effective for all kinds of GI pain: reflux, GURD, gastritis, diarrhea, constipation and nausea. It is also effective for chest pain such as angina and painful respiratory conditions such as chronic bronchitis.
The related modalities of cupping, gua sha, moxibustion and electric stimulation are also employed with acupuncture to eradicate pain.
Allergies
Close
Seasonal Allergies vs. Other Allergies
Acupuncture is highly effective for treating seasonal allergies. The protocol I recommend is a series of annual treatments, which typically begin in winter, before allergy season has started. When a patient has other kinds of allergies in addition to seasonal allergies, I recommend NAET (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique). I also recommend NAET for all children who suffer from allergies and or asthma, because it’s the only protocol I know that can eradicate allergies altogether.
What is NAET?
NAET is an amazing protocol, which was created by a doctor named Devi Nambudripad to combat her own debilitating illnesses. It combines acupuncture, chiropractic, homeopathy and kinesiology to systematically clear a person of sensitivities. I have successfully treated seasonal allergies; asthma; food allergies like lactose intolerance, stone fruit sensitivity, wheat intolerance; systemic yeast conditions; skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema; and thyroid conditions.
Allergy as a Cause of Illness
An allergy is a condition of unusual sensitivity to one or more substances. When contact is made with an allergen, it causes blockage in the body, disrupting the normal flow of energy through the body’s electrical circuits. This energy blockage causes interference in communication between the brain and body via the nervous system, which begins a chain of events that can develop into an allergic response.
An individual can be allergic to anything in the environment, such as food, nature (trees, flowers, weeds, molds, vines), pets, chemicals, inhalants, drugs, clothing, paints, plastics, radiation, etc. Symptoms can range from mild reactions to life-threatening illnesses.
Undiagnosed allergies are often the cause of common or chronic illnesses which, when left untreated can result in serious energetic and physical imbalances. These imbalances lead to a diminished state of health. By reprogramming the brain and removing the blockages, NAET allows the body to regain perfect balance (homeostasis) and to reach optimum health.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture
Ancient Beauty Secret from China!
Used by the empresses and concubines of ancient China, and now the best kept secret of Hollywood stars, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is a whole body approach to health and beauty. It is a safe and effective alternative to Botox and cosmetic surgery. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture works by increasing the collagen production and fluid circulation in the face. It improves muscle tone, relieves tension in muscles, reduces the appearance of lines and even improves facial coloring—all leading to a younger and healthier appearance.
What is Facial Rejuvenation?
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is a traditional Acupuncture treatment with a focus on the face and neck. By treating the whole body, we are able to affect constitutional problems, such as stress or digestive disharmony, which contribute to premature aging. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is gentle, and most patients experience a deep sense of relaxation during the treatments. Very fine needles and essential oils are employed to garner the most benefit, as well as facial cupping and gua sha with jade tools.
What results should I expect?
The course of treatment may vary, but I recommend 10 to 20 weekly sessions, followed by monthly maintenance treatments. Improvement may be seen after one treatment, but change is generally noticed in the 7th session. After the course of treatment, the results can be quite dramatic. Clients on average look 5-10 years younger and feel more confident about their appearance.
Who should perform Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?
Only a licensed acupuncturist with a special certification in facial acupuncture should perform this protocol. Optimally, it should be one who has studied under a master practitioner in this field.
Menopause

Menopause
Menopause is not an illness. Rather, it is a transitional period, which marks the cessation of ovulation in a woman’s body. This change may last for several months or several years as the body adapts to decreasing amounts of estrogen. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and may include hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, fatigue, mood swings, memory loss, vaginal dryness, skin changes, headaches, joint pain and weight gain.
Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are very effective in reducing the symptoms of acupuncture, and many clinical studies support this claim. This is because Chinese Medicine does not recognize menopause as one particular condition. Rather, it aims to treat the specific set of symptoms that are unique to each woman. Thus, for each woman that comes into the office I recommend a different course of action. Many of my patients have successfully weathered this difficult transition with a combination of acupuncture, herbs, diet and exercise.
I can help you to:
Significantly reduce hot flashes
Overcome fatigue and insomnia
Improve symptoms of depression
Improve circulation and cardiac function
Regulate menstruation
Reduce vaginal dryness
Menopause doesn’t have to be so oppressive. Instead, it can mark the beginning of a woman’s most inspired and productive time of life. In Chinese medicine it is seen as a necessary and regal transition in the cycle of life from “the mother” to the “enlightened and wise woman”. I honor this idea.
Pediatric Acupuncture

Pediatric Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a wonderful medicine for children. It has a long and venerable history in Asia, and it is growing in popularity in the West. Pediatric acupuncture includes many gentle modalities such as NAET, contact needling, non-retention needling, shonishin (Japanese technique of gently stimulating the meridians) and massage.
Acupuncture is used to treat a wide variety of childhood problems, including:
Failure to Thrive Syndrome
Weak Constitution
Colic, excessive night crying, temper tantrums
Indigestion, GERD, constipation and diarrhea
Night terrors
ADHD
Allergies, asthma and colds
Eczema and hives
Ear Infections
Furthermore, acupuncture is effective for treating adolescents with acne, gynecological conditions (in girls), eating disorders, emotional problems and sports injuries.
The affect of acupuncture on young people can be profound. Research shows that children miss less school, sleep better and are more able to participate in extracurricular activities as a result of treatment.
Herbal Medicine

Herbal Medicine
Chinese Herbology
Herbal Medicine is traditionally one of the more important modalities used in a Chinese Medicine practice as it works synergistically with acupuncture to rid the body of imbalances. Chinese herbal remedies are made up of several herbs where the balance and intersection of the ingredients are considered more important than the effect of the individual herbs. At Three Treasures Acupuncture, I combine acupuncture and herbal medicine to get the best results.
Kampo
Kampo is the Japanese adaptation of Chinese Herbal Medicine. It literally means the “way of the Han Chinese”. The basic works of Chinese medicine came to Japan between the 7th and 9th centuries. Since then, the Japanese have created their own unique medical and diagnostic herbal system.
I am one of the few Kampo practitioners in the US. I studied this form of herbal medicine with Nigel Dawes, LAc, the master practitioner of this art in the US. I chose to study Kampo because it is a systematic approach to herbal medicine which relies on precise diagnostic tools. Additionally, I found that the granulations that are used in Kampo offer a higher quality than other preparations and are absorbed more effectively by the body.

An Interview with Mindy Pickard from the Pelvic Health Summit 2019
Testimonials
I began to see Mindy while undergoing fertility treatments. She treated me the day after I had my IUI and I became pregnant after years of struggling! Mindy is incredibly kind, open-minded and gentle. I attribute Mindy’s treatments with keeping me calm. I would arrive to the office fists clenched and then float home, feeling relaxed and renewed, and best of all, hopeful. I advise all my friends who are trying to get pregnant to make an appointment with Mindy.
Lauren R.
Mindy Pickard is the best kind of healer, because she combines her expertise and her wisdom with her authenticity as a human being and makes you feel as if you are truly being taken care of each and every time you step into her studio. When I came to Mindy, I had several food allergies which were a source of frustration for me. Now I can eat all of these foods without any reaction at all. I even got rid of my reflux through working with Mindy.
Lauren N.
If Mindy was just an excellent healer that would be enough, but she’s not just that…she’s an excellent person. I’ve been going to Mindy for around 2 years, and she’s been a constant source of help, positivity, and comfort. She’s a true professional who will provide a personal touch that is unparalleled. I feel better just by stepping into three treasures. I would recommend Mindy to anyone and everyone.
Zachary G.
Every week, I looked forward to sessions with Mindy. She is a dedicated and caring person. Not only did I place great faith in her skills and her judgment, but I was also repeatedly impressed by her commitment to helping me. She routinely let me stay beyond my session time to let a treatment run its course. In addition, Mindy is an excellent listener. I didn’t feel like a passive patient, but like a person with an active role in my treatment. The treatment space is lovely — full of light and air. The whole experience is conducive to healing.
Ann L.
I have had acupuncture treatments from Mindy Pickard for a variety of maladies and pains, not having a GP, and always found the treatments efficacious. Recently I had serious pains that compromised my mobility, and again went to Ms. Pickard. The treatments have had a dramatic impact on improving the condition, and she’s also offered referrals to physical therapists and other medical professionals should I want additional therapies or consultations. I can highly recommend her work.
James W.
Mindy is a terrific healer with a gentle touch. I went to her today with an issue with my knee. And in one session, I have improved so much. It can’t get cured in one session, but I walked out of there feeling terrific. The entire treatment was very relaxing. Plus Mindy is happy to explain what she is doing and how it will affect you. Can’t recommend her enough.
Stephanie K.
I was a real acupuncture skeptic, but Mindy convinced me that acupuncture works! I have seen Mindy for pain relief, nerve issues, and wellness. She has also treated my children for severe allergies; now, my children can manage with minimal medication all because of acupuncture treatments. Mindy is caring, has wonderful touch with needle insertion, and takes her time to make sure you are relaxed and comfortable. I highly recommend Mindy at Three Treasures!
